Branding Yourself is Sooo Important

We all know the importance of finding something that makes us stand out from the crowd.  You know…like when you see the Golden Arches, even with no name attached, you know McDonald’s is associated with it.

When we want to brand ourselves on line we need to do something similar and there are various ways of doing that.  In my June 19th post I spoke about Gravatars and how they were helpful in starting to brand yourself.

Becoming active in social communities is another method of becoming known on line.   The latest one appears to be IMFaceplate.  I have only signed up as a free member but it looks pretty interesting.  In a nutshell, it allows you to create your very own internet Marketing “faceplate” where you can showcase everything and almost anything that you want.  You can even build an email list to your OWN autoresponder right there from your faceplate.

What’s even better is that your faceplate then becomes integrated into a huge social network of Internet Marketers!

Take a look for yourself.  Click on the banner:

A Globally Recognized Avatar

What is YOUR Gravatar?  If you have ever looked at blogs you will notice that some comments to posts have pictures (avatars) of the people that have made the comment.  The following is how that happens.  It is free and it is easy.

Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?

Setting up Gravatars on your site is easy; you don’t even need an account! Plugins are available for leading blog software and content management systems, and our tutorials will have you running your own Gravatars in no time.

Are Autoresponders Really Necessary?

Hi.  My name is Bev and I want to welcome you to my website.

Today I want to talk to you about autoresponders.

You say you don’t need an autoresponder?  That was me not too long ago too.

My reasoning was that I didn’t have a big list to mail “stuff” out to them so why do I need one?

Well,  for one thing,  you NEED a list!   I shall go in to list building in the next few days.

How do you make a list if you don’t have an autoresponder?  How do you make money on line if you don’t have an autoresponder?  How do you get to know people on a more personal level if you don’t have an autoresponder?

It is imperative to build the “Know, Like and Trust.  If people know, like and trust you they are for more likely to believe what you have to say.  I can’t say that I blame them with all the scams that are running rampant on line.

Just remember this.  There is no such thing as a “sit on your butt and make millions” type of business.  If it sounds too good to be true then it likely is.  Use your instincts and your common sense.

Sooo, you NEED an autoresponder.  If it sounds like I am repeating myself….it is because I am!   I cannot stress enough how important an autoresponder is.

There are some free and almost free ones out there but you must be careful of them.
You may find that you are building somebody else’s list!  You may also find that some inexpensive ones are not as versatile and they may also increase in price as your list grows.

Personally, I use GVO because it provides me not only with autoresponders but everything else that I need for both an online and offline business.

If you would like to discuss autoresponders, methods of marketing or some tips and tricks to working on or offline, stop by our Conference Room for a visit.

Getting Started

It is extremely useful to have tools to help promote your online/offline business.  It is even better when you can get them for free or almost free.

First and foremost is setting up your blog or whatever else you have decided to use to market your business.  There are free blog resources HERE.

Promoting your own blog is far more beneficial to your business than promoting an affiliate site.  You want to stand out in the crowd…..not look like everyone else.

If you get “stuck” on setting up your blog, you are welcome to drop in to our conference room.  Enter HERE.  If I am not there to assist you, please leave your name and contact information and I will get back to you.

We share ideas and are always open to ideas that are useful to all.

WidgetQUICK is probably one of the sweetest secrets. They have a very nice free basic plan that will give the beginner a nice way to promote sites. It saves a lot of work changing your advertising in traffic exchanges as when you change your WidgetQUICK site, it changes them all!

I eventually upgraded as the cost is only $3.95 a month with no set-up fees. It is paid through Paypal.  The free one is probably all that you will need for quite sometime.

Have a Super Tuesday!

Cheers,
Bev

Deciding To Work From Home

The Internet is not only the place to entertain. Lots of people come to the Internet to work. They do the real job and get the real money for it. However, you won’t be able to spend your time doing nothing and get the money as it might happen in your full time job. The more efforts you apply the more income you get. This system is fair. Everyone can become its part. It means that you don’t need any special skills or knowledge to join those who earn money in the Internet. The things that you do need are the great will, desire and willing to reach your aim. There will be some obstacles on your way to the wealth and you need the power to overcome them.

The internet can be a great place to make friends, learn, earn money and just plain waste time if that is what you want to do.

Many people try working on line, however businesses that advertise a set and forget type of income are a complete waste of your time and your money. Also be very aware of schemes that sound “too good to be true”. There are many websites set up to attract you and soon have you parting with your cash with the promise of a truly “guaranteed to earn” story. NEVER put more money in to these “investments” than you can afford to lose. The chances of you even making your initial “investment” back are slim to none.
Sure they will allow you to make a little and you may even get your money back but it is like a rigged poker game. The owners of the site are “fishing” and when they get their hook in to you, they will get you.

Working on not only takes some cash, but it takes time to learn some marketing skills. Don’t just part with your money to a website that makes promises. Please do your due diligence. Make sure the company has been around for a number of years and don’t take their word for it! Certainly better to be safe than sorry.

If you would like a few more clues on checking out companies BEFORE you part with your money, stop by the conference room. There is usually someone around that can answer questions and at least steer you in the right direction.

Positives & Negatives on Webhosting

In order for a web site to be available on the World Wide Web, it must be hosted on a server. There are several different ways to accomplish this. Most large hosting companies will have their own servers and the network infrastructure needed for their site to be available on the Web. However, the equipment and technical resources needed to set up such a system are very expensive, beyond the reach of smaller companies, organizations and individual users. Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs), offer free web pages for their subscribers. There are also free web hosting services, such as Geocities. However, using these services has several disadvantages. Such services will not allow you to have your own domain name, i.e. “http://yourname.com”. Instead, you will have to use the name allocated by that service. Additionally, any advertisements that appear on your site will be provided by the service, and any revenue generated from such advertisements will be kept by them, instead of coming to you. Finally there will also be restrictions on the amount of space you use and the number of visitors you can receive per month.

An alternative to this is to use a web hosting company. For a monthly fee, such a company will host your site for you on its own servers. This removes the need for you to buy and maintain expensive hardware, and also will counter the disadvantages of using a free hosting service.

A typical web hosting company will have several servers and one or more high-speed connections to the Internet, usually T1 connections that are linked directly to the T3 lines that form the “backbone” of the Internet, ensuring high data-transfer rates. In order to keep this equipment running, such companies will have multiple power supplies, including stand-alone generators, to ensure that power is available at all times. The servers will be housed in climate-controlled rooms and technical and support staff will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Web hosting companies typically offer a variety of service plans, at costs ranging from $5/month to $100/month or more, depending on the type and amount of services offered. All plans will offer some disk space to store your site and a monthly bandwidth, or transfer, allowance. Email will also be included, allowing you to set up email addresses in the form of “name@yourname.com”. Also included will be FTP access to the server housing your site, allowing you to upload updates at any time. Technical support will also be available, to help resolve any problems you may encounter. Other services offered may include the ability to set up shopping carts or the availability of SSL transactions to ensure data security.

A web hosting company will allow you to establish a site on the Web without any of the disadvantages of a free service, and at a far lower cost than would be involved in setting up your own server system. You will also be able to pick out your own unique domain name, making it easier for visitors to find your site. Since the web hosting company supplies all of the hardware and technical staff needed to host and operate the site, this allows the user to concentrate his time and resources on designing and maintaining the site.

The best of both worlds is to make sure that the company you host with is a solid company that you feel confident will be around for years to come. I personally use GVO.

Social Networks

The greatest benefit  of being a member of a social networking community is the ability of building business relationships and friendships.  More than 75% of those that sign up with a social networking community do so in order to keep in touch with family, friends and business contacts.  Friends and families especially appreciate the social space when they reside in different parts of the country or the world.

With a simple click you are brought up to date with current happenings such as weddings, graduations, births, etc.  It is so much easier to keep in touch with business contacts or customers.

Even someone who has no internet experience finds it very easy to become a member of the community.  Even sharing exciting happenings with people you may just meet in the community can be rewarding.

For people who are confined to home for various reasons, are able to enjoy some semblance of companionship through the many social networking communities.

Working Together

What a great example of using a conference room to help one another.

Did my usual “stuff” this morning before popping in to the conference room that I share with several others.  One of the gals was stuck on a problem with her blog.  Instead of wasting a bunch of time struggling by herself she gave us the problem.  Within a few minutes someone was able to give her the information she needed to quickly solve the problem.

Voila!  No wonder I like working together!  Have a great day!
